While some of Gibson's feats may be mythical-many claimed that he was the only player ever to hit a fair ball out of Yankee Stadium-there is no disputing his talents and tremendous impact on baseball. Gibson, a catcher, was named to nine East-West All-Star teams and it is estimated that he hit over 800 home runs during his playing career. In 1972, Gibson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a special player, truly one of baseball's greatest talents.
